Functional training is basically exercises that train your body to be better and stronger at activities performed in day to day life ie putting things away on high shelves, picking up the kids etc. By mimicking these tasks, it will help you to perform daily activities more easily and with less injuries.
While most exercises ie weight machines are designed to train a specific muscle to grow strength whilst keeping you in a specific range of motion, functional exercises are designed to use multiple muscle groups at a time whilst moving in different directions or planes of motion.
It is great for building core strength, overall strength, balance, joint mobility and stability, and cardio fitness but best of all it’s fun!
